Exposé Series: Zara

“ex·po·sé [ek-spoh-zey] : a public exposure or revelation”

Each Thursday for the next few weeks we will be calling out all inequalities in the fashion world towards TALL people.

Statistics show that tall men are desired more than their counterparts…

…and women fashion models are at the top of all  fashion designers’ lists in the industry, yet we can’t find a steady designer who will consistently make clothing items to our liking.

Since my growth spurt (height to my nasty people) in the summer of 1998, when I went from a 5’9″ avg kid to a 6’6″ young man, I began to realize that shopping for school clothes and shoes was a difficult task.  If it wasn’t for school uniform, I could have been mocked and called goofy like a lot of my friends.

Listed below are just a few items pulled from the designer Zara’s website.  Now, we love Zara (and all exposed in this series as a matter of fact) but, we are doing this to be heard!  Clothes are not made for our fit!  We are not represented and until we are, the exposing continues…

Women:

Boyfriend Jeans: 2-10 (4 & 6 available only)

White Dress: XSmall – Large (European Cut)

Black Jumpsuit: XSmall – Large (European Cut)

Men:

Yellow Sweater: Medium – Xlarge (European Cuts run much smaller as we all know)

Khaki Pants: 30-36 (Waist usually, not length)

Black Blazer: Small – XLarge (Once again Euro cut)

We got lucky and actually were able to pull their June 2012 Look Book images. We just aim to prove a point that although sought after in the fashion world to model these items, clothes aren’t actually produced to fit people of our stature.

T|P|Republic plans to change that. Stay tuned.

help us out a little…….
